Department of Nephrology
The Department of Nephrology is located on the third floor of the Superspeciality Building within the AMCH campus. The department currently comprises two faculty members and one Senior Resident. Outpatient Department (OPD) services are provided regularly twice a week, and Inpatient Department (IPD) services with dedicated beds are available for patient admission and treatment.
Regular nephrology consultations are provided to patients admitted under various departments of AMCH, including Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Cardiology, Urology, Orthopaedics, and others.
The Hemodialysis Unit is located on the ground floor of the same building and offers regular hemodialysis services to both OPD and indoor patients.

3. OPD Services
Frequency: Twice a week – Tuesday and Friday

5. Hemodialysis Services
Total Hemodialysis Machines: 14
1 machine dedicated for HCV / HBsAg positive patients
1 machine dedicated for HIV-positive patients
Service Highlights:
Regular hemodialysis services for both OPD and indoor patients, operating almost round the clock.
Daily hemodialysis is provided to around 21–22 patients.
Hemodialysis services are also extended to critically ill patients in all three ICUs – Central ICU, MICU, and Cardiology ICU.

6. CAPD (Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis)
CAPD was introduced in 2022 as a renal replacement therapy for End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) patients. Till date, 48 patients have been initiated on CAPD.
7. Internal Jugular Venous (IJV) Catheterization
This procedure has been recently introduced in the department. So far, 167 patients have undergone IJV catheter insertion.
8. Achievements
Successful completion of complex pediatric hemodialysis procedures on two children aged only 7 years.
The youngest patient to be initiated on CAPD was 12 years old.
